Helmets now compulsory for Wallis motorbike users

The authorities in Wallis and Futuna will enforce the helmet law from 1st April after motorbike riders largely ignored the requirement to protect themselves.

In Wallis and Futuna it will soon be compulsory for motorbike and moped users to wear a helmet.

The Cook Islands police have warned motorcyclists who get caught without a helmet to pay their fine or recieve a criminal conviction.

Cook Islands police say 75 percent of road deaths between 2007 and 2016 were motorcycle riders who were not wearing helmets.
