Covid-19 outbreak threatens Japan Olympics, disrupts NZ training

The coronavirus outbreak is threatening to ruin the Olympics in Japan and has already disrupted Kiwi athletes' preparations for the games.

Senior International Olympic Committee member Dick Pound said that a decision will have to be made around late May as to whether the virus is sufficiently under control for the event to go ahead, or if it will have to be cancelled.

New Zealand's Olympic Committee is closely monitoring the situation, as thousands of athletes hope that the years of training they've put in haven't been in vain.
