Nelson residents were taken by surprise on Monday morning when flash flooding hit the town, with the deluge blocking roads and water flooding into shops. The downpour saw around 40 millimetres of rain fall since midnight, with almost 20 millimetres falling between nine and eleven o'clock. One of the badly hit areas was the suburb of Toi Toi.
