Benefit suspensions, cancellations fall in weeks

The number of people having their benefit suspended or cancelled has dropped by nearly a quarter, in just a matter of weeks. Last month, the government told Work and Income staff could not decide on their own to suspend a benefit and would need sign-off from a senior-level colleague. Social Development Minister Carmel Sepuloni told RNZ social issues reporter Sarah Robson it is important to have robust processes in place.
