New Zealand-based interactive education technology platform Kami expects its products will reach 70 million teachers and students - an increase of 20 million - with the purchase of UK-based Book Creator for an undisclosed price.
Kami, which is valued at more than $300 million following last year's investment from Boston Ventures Investment Partners, was already used by teachers and students in 180 countries, including 90 percent of United States classrooms.
"By joining forces with Book Creator, we're looking to give our users powerful tools that make an impact on student outcomes, and deliver real value for educators and school leaders alike," Kami founder and chief executive Hengjie Wang said.
"As the edtech market consolidates, particularly in the US, educators are seeking simpler, more versatile platforms.
"Similarly to Kami, the majority of Book Creator's revenue comes from the US and Canada. However, they have a very active international community, with 68 percent of their active teachers based outside of these regions, opening up new markets and significant expansion opportunity for Kami."
Wang said the company was well capitalised, with profitable growth to fund expansion.
Book Creator chief executive Lainey Frank said the companies' cultures aligned.
"Our shared values with Kami around people, product, and creating magic in the classroom are what makes this the perfect partnership and together, we bring decades of experience, deep relationships, and a passion for making education awesome," she said.
