A prisoner allegedly attacked by fellow inmates at Auckland Prison earlier this week remains in a critical condition.
The 33-year-old was rushed to Auckland City Hospital on Tuesday after the incident at Paremoremo, where the nation's most serious offenders are jailed.
Police say the injured man is still critical in hospital while Corrections says the three alleged offenders are being held in segregation.
It's understood the 33-year-old victim suffered life-threatening head injuries.
Police say the CIB is continuing to investigate and charges have not yet been laid.
