Police have charged two men with dealing methamphetamine after they were found with 1.5kg of the Class A drug in their vehicle.
The two men, aged 66 and 69, were arrested on Monday after leaving the ferry terminal in Picton when a bag of drugs, later found to be methamphetamine, was found in their rental vehicle.
Only one of the men travelled on the ferry, and he was picked up by the second man.
Detective Senior Sergeant Shane Dye said police believed the drugs were bound for Motueka and would have caused a large amount of harm in the community.
"Meth causes massive damage to users, families and communities," Dye said.
"We don't want it in Tasman and will do everything we can to remove the drugs and dealers off the street."
Police would continue to target people bringing drugs into the community, he said.
The two men will appear in the Blenheim District Court on Tuesday.
