A showery weekend is forecast for many parts of the country with strong wind watches in place for much of the South Island and the lower North Island on Sunday.
Showers are likely for much of the North Island on Saturday and they may be heavy in the afternoon in Northland and Auckland with possible thunderstorms.
Take a coat if you're checking out the All Blacks at Eden Park for the first Bledisloe Cup test on Saturday because MetService meteorologist Michael Pawley warned that while it may look like a sunny morning, showers are forecast to move across Auckland during the afternoon and evening.
Road Snowfall Warnings extended later into Friday evening.

The clocks go forward on Sunday for daylight savings, with another burst of rain with strong northwesterly winds expected to move over the South Island.
Wind watches are in place for the lower South Island, parts of Canterbury and the lower North Island on Sunday.
"Sunday looks to be a great set up for warmer temperatures in eastern regions thanks to the Foehn effect. This happens when rain falls on the West Coast and Southern Alps, it releases heat, the warm dry air then descends on the Canterbury Plains. This Foehn wind mirrors what occurs in the Alps of Europe," Pawley said in a statement.
Warm temperatures are forecast on Sunday with Christchurch and Kaikōura expected to get to 21C and Napier and Hastings forecast to hit 24C.
