The public are being urged to report sightings of a man police believe could be involved in the suspicious death of a woman in Pahiatua.
The woman was found dead at a home in Pahiatua, near a college on Arthur St, in the lower North Island town on Wednesday.
Police said they were interested in any suspicious activity or sightings of a man aged 40-50, with a solid build that may have been in the Tarawera Rd area from 15 October.
"It is not clear whether this person is still in the area or in nearby areas," a police spokesperson said.
Anyone who saw a man matching the description, was warned "do not approach them" and call 111 immediately.
Earlier on Wednesday, police found a vehicle which had been taken from the woman's home, unoccupied at the Blue and Green Lakes Lookout on Tarawera Rd.
The vehicle had been removed and would undergo a forensic exam, a spokesperson said.
A scene examination at the Arthur St home would carry on into Friday, the spokesperson said, and a post mortem was also expected to take place on Friday.
"Inquiries are ongoing, and at various locations in Pahiatua and the wider Tararua area this week and next week," the spokesperson said.
Anyone with information could contact police via 105 and quote file number 251015/6286. Information could also be provided anonymously via Crime Stoppers on 0800 555 111.
