Polls have closed in Tonga for the 2025 general election.
Tongan voters cast their ballots to elect their 17 representatives in parliament, while the nobles also elected their own nine representatives for the 26-member Legislative Assembly.
While more than 64,700 had registered to vote, only those in the country could vote as there are no overseas voting provisions under the kingdom's electoral laws.
Result for the nine noble seats was announced earlier in the day, with two new noble MPs - Lord Ve'ehala in Eua and Lord Ma'afu in Tongatapu - elected.
Two other nobles' representatives - Lord Fakafanua and Lord Tu'ivakano - who expressed interest in being prime minister, also won their seats.
The preliminary results are expected to be available on Thursday night.
The return of the writs of election to the King is scheduled for 4 December.
